1600 Restart, Fall 1606 Retreats

Postby ak47 » 13 Aug 2009, 03:59

First off, I am really sorry about the long delay before i actually did this. I really dropped the ball and I'll do my best to make sure it does not happen. So accomponying this will be a PM just so everyone knows this is going on. There are two retreats, one from saxony (France) and the other from zea (denmark-Norway)

I'm going to set a long deadline and have it be for both the retreats and the builds. So get them to me by lets say Wednesday August 19th at 4pm EDT. If anyone has a problem with that let me know.

and a quick center count for my sake as much as yours :D

England(Connect4): 10 centers, 8 units, 2 BUILDS
France(stormwatcher): 8 centers, 8 units, NO BUILDS (unlesses you choose to destroy your retreat
Sweden(GruGloG): 9 centers, 7 units, 2 BUILDS
Ottoman Empire(Flatley): 12 centers, 10 Units, 2 BUILDS
Russia(Kinivie): 7 centers, 6 units, 1 BUILD
Denmark-Norway(CrazyCroat): 5 centers, 8 Units, 3 DESTROYS (depends on retreat
Hapsburg Empire(Nobody): 1 center, 1 Unit, NO BUILDS

double check those for me, I have been known to fail at counting.

It looks as if this is dead.

Can we call for AARs, take a look at the map, and start a new one?

Great map. Great game. Let's not leave it in abeyance.

Really? From my limited experience here I thought that England at least had a shot of stalemating the east (either that or dragging it out to the 1640s or so).

In the south, perhaps, but developments in the central and north would have eventually overran French and Danish positions, thereby allowing for a direct assault onto English holdings. Then you'd have your pick of holding me at bay in the south or defending your lands.

Fair enough (and from someone with the Kefka avatar, I have to agree). I'd still prefer this one called a 5-way though, as things might have turned out differently had we all been awake (read: Austria)

Oh, sure. But Austria went MIA years before now (1602?). The whole game would have had a different course had we found a replacement.

I also apologise for neglecting this. However, it would have been a long time until this game was finished, as at least England and I were nowhere near defeat. Denmark's absence and losses certainly hurt us, but "eventually overrunning" our position is easier said than done. That being said, this is a fantastic variant that I would eventually like to try again if we find enough players who will stick with it. Good game all!
