There's been stuff in the works for a long time now...

Setting up a HTTPS certificate for the entire website through LetsEncrypt could by dinner today if you wanted to do it. It doesn't alter any code, it's server architecture only. Here's the Certbot website: https://certbot.eff.org/ ... and here's the incredibly short installation instructions (6 commands) if this site is Apache and Ubuntu 14+: https://certbot.eff.org/#ubuntutrusty-apache

Joe, the issue is all the URL references etc.. These all need to change. I think avalanche has someone looking into it, but I don't think it is a trivial job....

Not sure exactly how the site is coded but you can set up automatic redirects from http to https with a few lines in your Apache conf: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/408 ... 2#21798882

There's something good about seeing a suggestion. Something wearing about seeing that suggestion flogged to within an inch of it's life.

Hi everyone!

We've asked a server administrator to migrate all our company's websites (over 200 total) to https in September. Although Playdiplomacy was pretty high on the list, so far he hasn't managed to do this one, because as super_dipsy said there are a LOT of things that could go wrong because of the huge amount of references in the code, so we need to be cautious.

But since users are getting warnings about their passwords being insecure, I've just asked him to give it a higher priority. Should be done this month at least.

Hi Avalanche, thanks for your response! I look forwards to seeing the move to https :)

I want to play a game with Avalanche. I want to support him to Belgium -- then take it from him.
When playing at war, always remember the origins of war:
1) I raid your cave to steal food and kidnap your women.
2) You raid my cave to steal food and kidnap my women.
3) Someone's kid gets hurt.
4) It all goes downhill from there
