Here too,
and the Team West Europe has voted 2:1 for Variants so for
me it looks like most of the Teams have decided that the Tournament
should be on the way it was proposed on the first place

Here's a novel suggestion:

1. we at team Mazal Tov pull out, since we've not got four players anyway, and don't seem likely to get them.

2. there are then seven teams. that makes things rather easier..

3. each round can then involve one player from each team.

4. a decision is made as to how many games will be played in total (seven would allow each team to play each country).

5. assuming seven games, they are divided into 4 classic, 1 PPO, 1 AoE, 1 FoW

6. someone not playing in the tournament allocates the country-assignments to each captain. the captains, that is, would receive an email along the following lines:

Austria: Classic
England: PPO
France: Classic
Germany: Classic
Italy: AoE
Russia: FoW
Turkey: Classic

7. the captains decide, on the basis of as much consultation with their team-members as they would like, who is to enter which game. there could be a stipulation that no individual be allowed to play more than three (or even two) games.

8. the captains send that information to the TD.

9. the TD creates the games as and when is appropriate.

This would resolve pretty much everything except the issue of when each round is to be played. The suggestion could easily be tweaked to find a solution for that, if it's something that those running/involved in the tournament are interested in doing.

Alright, if there aren't any dis-agreements, I'll do a check of all current teams signed up. If their all filled, I'll start sending games out.

Once Team Asia-Pacific and Team Mazal Tov are filled, we will start. During this period I expect captains to start confirming that their players are still ready to play, and also deciding who will play each variant. The variants are as follows:

Classic, Chaos FOW, Gunboat, and Age of Empires

The player will play the same variant in all of the rounds.

Asia Pacific has dropped out. So now we are at 6 full teams.

Although, I'm not quite sure how to run this without 7 teams. It was specifically designed to have 7 teams.

Let me think this through.

I am a team member of Asia Pacific. It is news to me that we have 'dropped out' as there has been no mention of this in our team discussions.

The last message I received from our team captain, HonestAbe, was...
That's good. Basically we're in no matter what the organizers decide.

I'm still keen to play, I'll talk to the others and see what the go is. I think we even had a reserve lined up, so if we have dropped out due to reasons that haven't yet become apparent to me, we might be able to get a team happening anyway.

haha :p

CAPTAINS. I need you to send me, via PM, who your players are and what their preferred variant is. Once I have all of the information, I will start setting up games.

Surely you just need to send team captains what games they are playing in and as what country and let them tell their relevant team members to sign up accordingly. A hell of a lot less work for you to do.
I will be running the London Marathon on 22nd April 2012 to raise funds to help disabled children and in memory of my darling wife who sadly passed away in January 2012.
