I'm fairly sure I'm allowed to share the text of a message (copy/paste) in a diplomacy game, or there wouldn't be a 'forward' option on messages . However, can I take a screenshot of private messages or my messages inbox and share a link to the image with another player?

No. There was a big debate about this rule a while back, and the majority (vast majority, I'd argue) thought screenies shouldn't be allowed. They're much more difficult to doctor than forwarded messages, giving a skill that should have no bearing on the game (ability to doctor images) importance in the game.

Yeah, screenshots of messages are a fairly big no/no at this point in time.
