Happy St. Patrick's Day

Some of you are long done celebrating. Some are in full swing. Just wanted to share my holiday with people that would appreciated it: gamers.

I picked up my little girl from pre-school and took her out to lunch. She wanted Mexican, so that is what we got (of course.) When we were done, she didn't want to go home yet, so she suggested we go to our neighborhood beer garden. (That is Daddy's girl!... or was I being played... hmmm...) When we got there, we shared a pretzel, and I got a half-liter (of course.)

Our bar has toys for the kids, and she chose legos. We took them outside with our snack. It goes like this:
"Daddy, will you build with me?"
"Sure. What shall we build?"
"Star Wars."

I build a TIE fighter. She builds the Ghost. Next she leads us in building Jedi holocrons, probe droids, proton bombs, and a speeder that flies (because it is more fun if it flies, she explains.) Then we fight them at the table. Can you hear us?

She won the battle (of course.)

It is now a so-warm-it-should-be-spring evening. I've switched to martinis and my girl wants to play dominos after diner. It's a good day.

How was your St Patty's celebration?

Well, I spent part of my day wishing I was as good a father as you are!

Well, thanks edmgrim, but really, drinking a beer in a garden building legos and playing Star Wars was not a big lift in the world of Dad responsabilities.

12 hour drive/(ride, actually), worrying about NMRing. But it was good, otherwise. :)

We weren't exactly celebrating St. Patty's, per se, but this is the end of the kids' spring break from school, and we spent the whole day at the beach. The wife taught the kids how to make good use of their boogy boards, which they loved, and I got to enjoy a bit of solo gaming on the sand with a laminated, water-proof version of Deep Space D6 I manufactured. Nice relaxing family day.

Went with the wife to the new bar attached to a brewery owned by some friends and worked my way through all their offerings (finishing with the Porter and Stout in honour of the Irish). Got into some heated debate about how good or not so good England are at rugby (they're trying to win their 19th straight international today - against Ireland - but they haven't faced New Zealand in that time and really, Wales' players outplayed them last month but were let down by the coaching IMO) but what I really wanted to do was watch college basketball. Got home in time to watch some of Duke - Troy St but fell asleep around 12:30am so couldn't get to see too much... Now I'm trying to get my act together to go for a long swim...
