Mentor game 31-Aug-15 Started

If you are new to the site, and especially if you are new to the game, this might be a good way to start some games. Mentors will help with the mechanics of the game.

Mentor game 31-Aug-15 Started

Postby WHSeward » 25 Aug 2015, 21:40

Mentor games are for beginners to play together and learn the basics of Diplomacy and how the website interface works with an experienced player available to answer questions. Any player that thinks they might benefit from a teaching game may join:

  • Looking to play your first game?
  • Have played before, but it was some time ago and feel rusty?
  • New to PlayDip and want to get used to the interface?
  • Been on site for awhile and would like some pointers?
All are welcome. If you are interested in playing, either reply in this thread or use the site PM system to contact me. This game is slated to begin on August 31st, but we will start before then if we get a full roster. If you sign up this week but do not get a spot, you will be given priority in the 7-Sept mentor game.

Veteran players fill open spots from surrenders in our games. If you are a vet and interested in helping the teaching effort, please let us know and we will add you to the Standby Veteran list.

I see my name above as a priority player. Should I have received a message or an email, or do I confirm here? Or ... should I just be a bit more patient? ;)

Interested in playing my first game of diplomacy. Hoping to learn the game so our game group can play a game in the future. Thanks for consideration. :-)

I am interested in joining this mentor game. Can you give me an idea of the time requirement to participate?

That is highly variable depending on the player. I think you can have a good game spending an a few hours every few days. A 3-day deadline game like this will last about 3 months. Others spend more time, others significantly less. Certainly the more you invest in a game the better you will do, and the more you play the more efficient you will get.

Got it. That sounds doable. I didn't want to sign up and then find out I was holding up others by not being available 24-7. Thanks!
